Sky is blue, Tomatoes are red, Milk is white, and Hairs are black…well this was what my son knew about colors of things that he sees, in day to day life. He was taught that cabbage is light green, capsicums are dark green, cauliflower is pale white and tomatoes are big and red (or sometimes greenish red). Every 7 year old kid knows at least these basics about colours. But when he chanced upon a big purple cabbage, a red and a yellow colored capsicum, dark green cauliflower (broccoli) he was amused. Then he also confused cherry tomatoes with Cherries,…

As mentioned in my previous post, I am very much excited to present Mrs HAAG (She preferred to be addressed like that, since these are Initials of her name) The lady originally from India, is now settled abroad , but Thankfully she still likes Sindhi food.Without any more delay I hand over to dear Haag, but not before expressing my heartfelt gratitude that she actually bothered to write the recipe and provide pictorials too. ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….. It all started when I tried to call my mom in India and wanted to talk to her.I could not(due to some reasons) so the whole…

As far as my memory goes, I was the most non fussy kid amongst siblings, where eating vegetables was concerned.I adored Bitter gourds and bottle gourds as much as Paneer and Potatoes. My father who is a real foodie, encouraged us to eat everything from vegetables to fruits, nuts to berries. Every Sunday, he used to purchase a whole lot of vegetables from Veggie Market and while other kids in family made faces at sight of Ridge gourds and eggplants, I used to be the one who would wait for their turn in next meals Life was all about simple pleasures then,…

Instead of counting candles,Or tallying the years, Contemplate your blessings,As your birthday nears. Consider special people,Who love you,and who care, And others who’ve enriched your life Just by being there. Think about the memories,Passing years can never mar, Experiences great and small, That have made you who you are. Another year is a happy gift, So cut your cake, and say, “Instead of counting birthdays, I count blessings every day!” Well I am wishing my blog, its first Birthday with this sweet poem by Joanna Fuchs Yeah SindhiRasoi, born on 29 January 2008 ,turned One today. And this is not the only reason…

Since last few months i was planning to announce a Food event for celebrating my blog’s first birthday. But was afraid of few things..deciding a theme was a first hitch, then there was this fear of not being able to manage the roundup, and the worst fear ….what if no body participated and did not bothered to send any entry? Well , i believe that we can’t live under shadows of fear, so i am trying to overcome my IFS and BUTS and announcing a food event.Doesn’t matter if just a handful participated, it will be any how a learning experience (and a…

Memories are myopic? Are they?? Well I don’t completely agree to this belief, since I am amongst those who dwell in beautiful past. I hate to look at reprehensible stuff around me, but unfortunately I am always forced to throw myself in pits of gloom, corruption, political vested interests and rising prices and declining bank balances. Pity, I can’t turn my eyes off the budging ugly head of terrorism and hatred but I wish I was allowed to be self occupied, innocent, energetic and bubbly kid forever and ever and ever! Well, I don’t wear wishbones where my backbone ought…
